Overview

Adobe Firefly is Adobe's family of generative AI models (image, video, vector, design, text effects) built into Creative Cloud apps such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and Express, and exposed via a standalone web app and enterprise APIs. Its core differentiator is that base models are trained on Adobe Stock, openly licensed, and public-domain content, which lets Adobe offer IP indemnification to enterprise customers and Content Credentials provenance tagging on every output. For governance teams, Firefly for Enterprise adds custom models trained on an organization's own brand assets, admin controls via the Adobe Admin Console, SSO/SCIM, audit logs, regional data residency options, and SOC 2 / ISO 27001 attestations inherited from Adobe's broader trust program. By default Adobe does not train Firefly on customer Creative Cloud content unless that content is submitted to Adobe Stock.

Risk factors

2
  • Trained on public-domain content
  • Potential for misuse of generated content

Recommendations

2
  • Establish clear usage guidelines for generated content
  • Monitor outputs for compliance with IP laws

Data handling

Storage
Prompts, uploads, and generated assets stored on Adobe cloud infrastructure; enterprise tenants get regional storage options and admin-managed retention.
Retention
Consumer content retained per Creative Cloud policy; enterprise assets retained per contract with admin-controlled deletion; abuse-detection logs kept short term.
Training on inputs
Base Firefly models are not trained on customer Creative Cloud content by default; users can opt out of content analysis; enterprise plans contractually exclude training use.
