Trust, Verify, and AI-Made Deception

Hallucinations, deepfakes, and AI phishing: verify what AI gives you and what it sends you.

What to remember

  • AI's wrong answers are dressed exactly like its right ones, so the proof lives outside the chat window, in something you can point at.
  • Verify by output type: numbers go back to the source system, names and dates to the original document, code into a test, legal and policy text to a human owner.
  • AI phishing is flawless and personal, so stop grading grammar and grade the request: urgency, secrecy, money, or credentials.
  • Urgency plus secrecy is the fingerprint of a scam; verify through a channel the requester did not choose, like the number already saved in your phone.
  • If something gets through, or the paste was yours: stop, capture what you saw, and tell IT or security within minutes, because fast reports usually make damage reversible.

Quick check

Three questions, instant feedback. Two right completes the module.

1.An AI assistant tells you last quarter's churn was exactly 3.47 percent. What does this module say you should do with that number before it goes into your report?

2.A voice that sounds exactly like your CFO calls, asks for an urgent transfer, and insists you tell no one. What is the right move?

3.You clicked a link in a convincing email and entered your password before realizing something was off. What now?
